There are two easy options to check this compatibility:
Option 1: Companion Pairing Process
The first option for checking if your current light is compatible with a Companion light is by attempting the Companion Pairing Process. Open the Kuna mobile app, and click the Add Devices button.
Clicking the Add Device button will show your device options. For this, we will choose the Companion Light option by tapping the picture of the Companion Light.
Step 3 – Select Your Kuna and Find Companion Light
You will need to choose which Smart Security Light you want to link with this Companion Light. If you have multiple Smart Security Lights set up under your account, they will show up in this section. Make sure that you select the correct Smart Security Light to pair with, and that your Companion Light is within 30 feet of your Smart Security Light.
Now, choose the Smart Security Light you would like to pair your Companion Light to. In the screen shot below, we will choose the Smart Security Light named “Office”.
If clicking the name of your Smart Security Light leads you to the error message above, then your current light is not compatible with a Companion light.
Option 2: Check Serial Number
Another way to check Companion compatibility is to look at your current light’s serial number. For this, open the Kuna mobile app and head to the Devices tab.
To find this unique serial number, click the gear-shaped Settings icon next to your Smart Security Light’s name and check the Serial Number section.
If, after the initial four letters (OOKN), you see the letter combination BL or BR, like the photo on the left, your light is Companion compatible.
If you do not have a BL or BR after the initial four letters (OOKN), then this device is not compatible with Companion lights.
